Do wisdom teeth come in singularly or usually all at once?

I have a molar coming in, unobstructed, all the way in the back.. and I%26#039;ve had x-rays indicate I have other teeth that %26#039;could%26#039; push their way through my otherwise flawless smile.





The dentist I had the x-rays from suggested oral surgery to remove the teeth that could come in. That was over 10 years ago. I chose not to do that surgery, based largely on my distrust for dentists, who are, of course, also trying to make a buck. That doesn%26#039;t make them always wrong, however, and I want to know if anyone knows anything about wisdom teeth.





I%26#039;ve had friends let these obstructing teeth come in naturally, and they looked miserable as hell.

Reply:wisdom teeth come one by one at four side of jaw. ie totally 4 teeth on 4 side
Reply:well mine came at roughly the same time and they caused a small amount of discomfort while they were coming through which took quite a while. If it had hurt alot I probably would have had them removed.
Reply:well have the teeth come in yet? if they have and they aren%26#039;t causing you any pain the you can probably leave them. There are problems that can be caused by removing them just like there are problems associated with keeping them in. Sometimes it%26#039;s just for aesthetic purposes that they are removed so they don%26#039;t crowd the teeth and make a crooked smile. I would say find a dentist you trust for an opinion.
Reply:They come in at different times, but I%26#039;ve had a similar experience to yours. The 2 top wisdom teeth came in very late, and the 2 bottom never did. They just stayed under the gumline, only visible in x-rays. I think you%26#039;re right; there%26#039;s no point to surgery if there%26#039;s no problem. I%26#039;m middle-aged and am glad my dentists never did anything about it.

Reply:They will come whenever they are ready. Some people do not erupt at all. and some pwolple will have 2 or 3 and not have all 4.
