A 3year old kicking a habit?
My daughter "Faith" just turned 3years old in december and is now completly potty trained. We live here in the Netherlands where it is really normal to let kids suck on their thumb or fingures untill "forever". My daughter has been sucking on her front middle two fingures since she was 4 months old, during the day as well as night. It's a big comfort thing. Does anyone have any tips to help her stop before she ends up having buck teeth like most of the Dutch people?

Reply:If you really want her to stop ( and it really has to), then try blending up her least favorite vegetable, and putting it on her fingers. Tell her every time she puts her fingers in her mouth, she will put them in (or you will) with the puree on it. If all else fails, there is a certain type of polish you can put on her nails (I don't recall the name of it, but I'm sure you can ask someone in a drug store), and a few times of that and she will be cured. I used to bite my nails and cuticles when I was little and my mom used this "special" polish on me, and I learned real quick!

Reply:breastmilk is there for a good reason its made exactly to our baby's requirements, i have 4 kids all breastfed, they have never had an illness, asthma etc, they have had a couple of colds and bumps and scrapes, they are 10, 8, 8 and 4, they are very healthy and i believe it was down to breastfeeding them, my mate has 5 kids who weren't breastfed they all have asthma, chest infections etc, unhealthy. even 1 out of my 4 i would have maybe expected one to be a bit unhealthy but they're not. my answer speaks for itself. i'm not against mothers who bottle feed its a very personal choice.

Ppl age 21 and up! Wondering if you could give me some advice!?
i really want braces (i dont have buck teeth but they are very crooked on the bottom and fairly crooked / squished tight together on the top). we're newly married (and dont yet own a home) is it too much money (selfish) to go ahead and get braces?? Hes somewhat okay with me getting them. I want to get them now (get them on and off as soon as possible!) b/c i dont want to wait too long to get pregnant (they wont do orthodontic work when your pregnant) and i think now is when we'll be able to afford it most (we dont own a home yet - but we want to buy soon and before we have kids - that we will be sending our kids to private school $500 month!) And neither of us have coverage for braces from work.
what do you think??? am i wasting our money? do you agree with me that now would be the best time for me to go ahead with it??

Braces are not THAT expenseive, and most dental insurances will cover braces (up to a certain amt tho) and if you BOTH have your own dental insurance, you can use yours as primary, and his as secondary.
If you want braces bad enough, and its not going to cause you to have your electricity turned off, or have your car re-poed, (j/k) then go for it! :)

Try to get the ones that are a clear tray you change about every week or so, that way it won't look like you're wearing braces, and I think most dentists have them now.

My dog hurt himself.?
a few weeks ago my dog hurt his leg and i dont know how or what he did to it. i think it is is foot ot whole leg. he dosent seem to be in so much pain, but he dosent step on his foot. for most of the time he just keeps his leg up and limps on it. do you have any idea what he might have don to it/ he is a spoiled beagle, 7years old, buck teeth, breathing problems, he really fat and now he has a foot problem....

Once his foot problem is healed and taken care of by the vet then you should start putting him on a diet so that he can lose some weight. That will help relieve stress on his joints and it will help him have a longer life.
Reply:He should have seen the vet a long time ago. If it's broken, it's likely it didn't heal properly and may require surgery. It also may be too late to repair the leg. You really need to make an appointment with the vet and see what can be done.

Once his foot problem is healed and taken care of by the vet then you should start putting him on a diet so that he can lose some weight. That will help relieve stress on his joints and it will help him have a longer life.
Reply:He should have seen the vet a long time ago. If it's broken, it's likely it didn't heal properly and may require surgery. It also may be too late to repair the leg. You really need to make an appointment with the vet and see what can be done.
Reply:Not trying to be rude, but if he was so spoiled wouldnt you have gotten a vets opinion? I know vets can be expensive, but obviously your dog needs medical attention if weeks later he is still nursing his foot. Please let a vet tell you whats wrong....

y do people give pacifires to kids that r like 3 n 4 years old? that is rediculous!! my mother gave me a pacifire till i was 2 years old and now i have buck teeth because of it. i saw a lil girl in the store a few days ago n she had to have been atleast 5-6 n she had a pacifire stuck in her mouth. it can be so easily prevented. ofcourse when they r babies its a good way of comfort but after about 6-8 months its time to stop. y would u need to give a pacifire to a toddler? better yet a kid 5 years old!!

When you give something to a baby, as a comfort thing, you can't expect just to be able to take it away. Kids will do it when they are ready. If you have buck teeth, you might have had them without ever having a pacifier. My oldest son had a pacifier until he was 4 and has no sign of it now. My rule was if she is happy and otherwise content or distracted she shouldn't need to be pacified. When she was starting to get tired or overtired or cranky sure I'd pop it in and she'd suck suck suck and calm right down. Then when she was crawling then walking the rule was no pacifier while up and around. Then it was just at nap and bedtime. Then just bed. Then at 2 I told her the pacifier was needed by another baby and we had to put it in a package and mail it (she was obsessed with the mail/mail man then) and off it went. The 1st nap was rough without it but lots of reminders and a good cry got her thru nap. That night was a little better and the next day it was forgotten. It was hard but it was more important to me that it was time for it to be gone. I was the parent, I parented. It wasn't easy but parenting shouldn't be easy. The parent needs to be the one to say when the pacifier goes and I agree that 3 or 4 is too old for a pacifier.

My son is 4 1/2 and still sucks his thumb..He's slowed it down a bit..I tell him that is not what "Big Boys"do..still he tries..when I catch him,he takes his thumb out.He had a visit to the dentist,she told him to definitely STOP..she told him he has beautiful teeth..Also,he will need braces if he doesn't quit.I am proud of the progress he has shown lately.Although,I may consider getting a thumb guard..which is something you could possibly look into..good luck!!

Person Buggin Me In School?
I have a person that sits behind me or beside me and always makes fun of me. I'm the new kid in school. He says stuff like your gay, and you have buck teeth. I'm pretty shy and I don't want to get into a fight with him. What should I do? I don't want to involve the teachers.

Try just ignoring him that is the simplest thing to do. Please if you feel threatened in ANY way than tell teachers, principal!! I know that it feels like tattle telling, but your safety and the safety of your classmates is more important. The people who are telling you to hit him, DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!! You may be a minor, but you can still be expelled and ruining your future education isn't worth it. Remember that a lot of schools have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY when it comes to any kind of violence in school. You have to have faith and confidence in yourself no matter what others say. Besides I know that it's hard to see, but he has problems either at home or just within himself. That is why he is doing this. Some people can change so maybe counter him with kindness. One of two things will happen, he'll see the light, or it will frustrate the crap out of him and make him look even more foolish.

If all else fails... the next time the kid bothers you in class say really loudly "Stop bothering me ___________(insert kids name)!!!" It gets the teachers attention on the situation with out actually telling her. Try it it works.

These techniques I'm describing are only for self defense, and have been taught to me by several different martial arts instructors. Good luck kid. Oh, and you will get in trouble at school for it., so be careful.

Ooh, Song of the South is so-oo terrible! Poor Uncle Remus; he's happy-go-lucky, he sings, he tells story, he tends to Johnny and Ginny...but wait! He's a slave. The message seems to be that a girl just has to be nice and look pretty and she'll be taken away by the man of her dreams.

All these movies have distinct flaws, yet all have been released or are being released and re-released like nothing is wrong, but Song harder to find than those damn WMDs. And if you really think about it, Jar Jar Binks is a much worse character than Uncle Remus, but you can get Episode One just about anywhere.

All these movies have distinct flaws, yet all have been released or are being released and re-released like nothing is wrong, but Song harder to find than those damn WMDs. And if you really think about it, Jar Jar Binks is a much worse character than Uncle Remus, but you can get Episode One just about anywhere.

You really don't need to go to those schools, you can just go to open calls or apply online on the agency website. Another thing about modeling. It's not always about being "pretty." Especially for high fashion, you have to be edgy. If you notice, models in Vogue and other magazines, people don't usually find them pretty. It's their uniqueness. Take Han Jin. People would think she's hideous. But in the industry, her unique look makes her beautiful. So yeah, you can be pretty for commercial modeling, like print ads, commercials, etc. But high fashion have strict requirements.

im in my twenties. still live with parents. i think ive always had this disorder. most girls my age are married and have kids by now. but because im so unattractive and socially phobic it'll never happen. i also have social anxiety disorder. i have ocd. and i have ptsd. i feel like a freak with all these problems. i look like one too. i have horrible skin, buck teeth, 10 lbs too heavy and oh yeah im beyond flat chested. and people wonder why i don't date or have any friends. take one look at me and youll see.

Ive heard the song before: The music video is of a CGI caterpillar (with buck teeth) and he meets a girl caterpillar, but she doesnt like him. He doesn't just hate reading, he really struggles with it. He does not like school due to the reading. He has a hard time with relationships with the opposite sex due to a problem with his self image. He is not particularly interested in a commitment right now (sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it is what I sense). He has a good sense of humor, however his laughter hides his insecurity as well. He tries very hard to fit in, but feels like he fails miserably. I hope that helps. Please be kind to him, he feels like a very gentle soul to me.

I just got braces yesterday to repair my buck-teeth and was wondering if I can go to sauna with them. I don't want my braces to "melt" in my mouth!

Even so , I'm sure they are made to withstand a certain amount of heat , or you could never eat hot foods ! I'm sure you would notice them getting hotter , before you were in any danger , then you could just get out ! I think you will be fine , but if you are stilll concerned , ask your dentist or orthadontist , just to be sure !!

My son's thumb sucking is so bad he is getting rough,red skin, how do I stop it?
He will be 3 in April and has been sucking his thumb since he was about 1. It use to be only at night when he was trying to go to sleep. Now he does it in the truck, or when he is watching cartoons. I don't want him to have buck teeth(it can happen, a girl I went to school with had them because of her thumb sucking) and I don't want other children to make fun of him when he starts preschool in Sept. What can I do? Please help!!

She bought this nail polish that you put on that gives your nails a bad taste so you wont chew them. It's not harmful if ingested so it could work for your son as well. Once he puts his thumb in his mouth and he notices the taste is bad it should stop. As for the buck teeth I don't think thumb sucking is the main cause for it. My brother sucked his thumb until he was 12 and he has beautiful teeth. Good luck!

Illegal immigration is breaking the law. I am for anyone who wants to come to this country LEAGALLY and learn the language, become a productive member of society, and pay do what they need to do to support their family. I believe that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world, and citizenship is not a right, but a privilage. The last time I checked, a privilage is earned. Being in finance I have a very good understanding of the drain they are on our economy and social services. We are not the land of handouts and I know several educators that are fed up with and frustrated with the damage that all of their illegal little rugrats have done to our education system. Most of these people are illiterate in their own languages and we're supposed to teach them english, a language by the way that they have no interest in learning.

I am for anyone who wants to come to this country LEAGALLY and learn the language, become a productive member of society, and pay do what they need to do to support their family. Illegal aliens put a huge drain on the system. Companies in the U.S. aere not stupid. Why pay fair wages when you can hire an illegal alien for 1/4th the salary and not pay income tax on them. They hurt the American worker, and hurt the unions. While some illegals pay tax, most do not. they can't, they are here ILLEGALLY. If you tried to go to Mexico, even as a legal resident, then marched into an immigration officials' office and said you wanted free health care, public aid, and free schooling for your kids, and by the way, I want all of the services in English because I don't speak Spanish and have no intention too, not only would they fall on the floor laughing, but you would be given a one way ticket back to your country of origin.
Again, I am not against LEGAL immigration. There are many people doing what they can LEGALLY to enter the country to make a better life for themselves and their families. I believe that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world, and citizenship is not a right, but a privilage. The last time I checked, a privilage is earned. How has someone who has not come here as a legal immigrant earned their right to be here. Legal immigrants have to go through a tough set of regulations to stay. They show they respect our country and want to be a part of it. Illegals do no such thing. they sneak in under the system, then expect our tax dollars to take care of them.
I was born in the U.S. and I earn my citizenship every day. I bust my butt to make sure my family is taken care of. I have gone back to school to become a teacher. My parents still are paying back loans that helped put my brother, sisters and I through school. My grandfather fought in WWII at Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal. My father-in-law did 2 tours in Vietnam. Every day I thank my lucky stars that I am an American, but I don't stop there. I make sure that I am worthy of the title Proud American. I wish everyone would.
