Ppl age 21 and up! Wondering if you could give me some advice!?

i really want braces (i dont have buck teeth but they are very crooked on the bottom and fairly crooked / squished tight together on the top). we're newly married (and dont yet own a home) is it too much money (selfish) to go ahead and get braces?? Hes somewhat okay with me getting them. I want to get them now (get them on and off as soon as possible!) b/c i dont want to wait too long to get pregnant (they wont do orthodontic work when your pregnant) and i think now is when we'll be able to afford it most (we dont own a home yet - but we want to buy soon and before we have kids - that we will be sending our kids to private school $500 month!) And neither of us have coverage for braces from work.

what do you think??? am i wasting our money? do you agree with me that now would be the best time for me to go ahead with it??

any advice would be much appreciated!!!!! thanks!

I think this would be the appropriate time to afford braces...I know once a family has been started , their needs come before your and you'll never find the extra funds to do for yourself for years down the road...so do it now..
Reply:Go for it. (I got my braces when I was 23, and I wore them for 10 months. My teeth were not bad at all, I just had a little gap I wanted to close.)

Braces are not THAT expenseive, and most dental insurances will cover braces (up to a certain amt tho) and if you BOTH have your own dental insurance, you can use yours as primary, and his as secondary.

If you want braces bad enough, and its not going to cause you to have your electricity turned off, or have your car re-poed, (j/k) then go for it! :)

Good luck!
Reply:cant u wait until after you guys are financially secure? thats what i would do. wait till after the house, kids, blah, blah, blah.
Reply:Decide whether 10 years from now, you would regret more spending the money on getting them, or having never done it. Then make your decision accordingly.
Reply:You will never have enough money once the kids come; now is best, assuming you have no credit card debit, or other big debts.
Reply:This is really something you two need to discuss openly and honestly. Can you put off buying the house until later? What is more important to your happiness and health? You aren't pregnant yet so now would be the time to take advantage of it, but really you need to sit down and talk it over. One of you will have to put your dreams aside for a time so the question is...which dreams?
Reply:im only 12 but my sister had the smae problem. she got married lived a trailer waited till her husband got enough money earned, got braces and then had kids. i hope you relize what your getting yourself in to my siter wasnt financially ready for kids.
Reply:Get them, they'll help you out with work and they'll make you even more attractive.

Try to get the ones that are a clear tray you change about every week or so, that way it won't look like you're wearing braces, and I think most dentists have them now.
Reply:Save more money first. This is a luxury expense.

At your age, getting braces isn't at simple as when you were a kid. You need to find the best dentist who is almost more focused on dental aesthetics than she is on dentistry. Braces can mess your look up if they aren't done in a way that makes it look like you were born that way.

So, if you're going to do it, pay for the best and get an experienced artist to do your teeth. Otherwise, don't do it at all.
Reply:in your perfect world does everything go according to plans?because things come up when you least expect so if you have the cash on hand do it,if it means so much to you.
