Recently there's been a commercial on the Discovery Channel for a program called Blue Planet. At one point it shows some very odd looking fish. They are black and red, and the strange part about them is that they almost look like they have buck teeth. I highly doubt they have actual large squarish teeth like that, being fish, so I assume they are very convincing white markings. I would just like to know what kind of fish these are because I found them interesting. Would anyone happen to know what they are called?
(I can't find any pictures of them because I don't have their name, and I also can't find the promo for the show online)
Trying to find the name of a strange fish seen on a promo for a discovery channel show?
I think they are actually called Bumphead Parrot Fish (and also Hump Head Parrot Fish and Double-headed Parrot Fish):

It's hard to see the red in most of those pictures, but some of the the videos show the colors you describe.

Reply:Hi. Try searching from this deep sea creatures link. You may see your fish. http://images.google.com/images?q=deep+s...
Reply:I can't think of anything right off hand that is red and black but both triggers and parrot fish have large teeth that can be seen as the fish swims and parrot fish have teeth that protrude from the front of their mouthes giving them a rather buck toothed appearance. The teeth are flat because they are used to scrape coral, not to penetrate flesh.
Reply:I believe the previous answers are correct, it seems to be a Bumphead Parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum). In the following link, you can see some of the coloring you describe (click on the photo): http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/blueplanet/f...
Reply:It is what they said. A Bumphead Parrot Fish. Here is a really good photo of one:
