A 3year old kicking a habit?

My daughter "Faith" just turned 3years old in december and is now completly potty trained. We live here in the Netherlands where it is really normal to let kids suck on their thumb or fingures untill "forever". My daughter has been sucking on her front middle two fingures since she was 4 months old, during the day as well as night. It's a big comfort thing. Does anyone have any tips to help her stop before she ends up having buck teeth like most of the Dutch people?

put that yukky nail stuff on them. I bite my nails and i have that stuff, it helps. ♥♥♥Goodluck♥♥♥
Reply:I'm confused about what her being completely potty-trained has to do with sucking her fingers?!? Did I miss something?

As far as kicking the habit of sucking on her fingers...there's the old wives tale of putting mittens on her when she sleeps so she can't get them into her mouth...pepper on them so they don't taste good to her, ect.

I'm not sure if any of those work in real life, though. By the way, I sucked my thumb until "forever" and I don't have bucked teeth, nor did my sister or my best friend who also sucked their thumbs for a long time.
Reply:congrats on the potty training. if mine was i would be braging too. so go ahead. as far as the fingers, they make products to put on there thumbs, fingers, and they taste bad so they will keep there fingers out. i have tried my darndest to get my kids to suck there thumbs, lol, i think it's cute. but i agree eventually it has to stop for many reasons. good luck.
Reply:If you really want her to stop ( and it really has to), then try blending up her least favorite vegetable, and putting it on her fingers. Tell her every time she puts her fingers in her mouth, she will put them in (or you will) with the puree on it. If all else fails, there is a certain type of polish you can put on her nails (I don't recall the name of it, but I'm sure you can ask someone in a drug store), and a few times of that and she will be cured. I used to bite my nails and cuticles when I was little and my mom used this "special" polish on me, and I learned real quick!

Reply:i think u can1.put socks in her hands while sleeping and tie the socks with other socks so that she may not open the socks the new sock is tasteless

2.can put nailpolish either on socks or directly on the fingers

3.can use asofetida paste on her fingers when she sleeps.its not bad its actually good 4 tummy.[i used this method for my daughter]
