My daughter is only 2 1/2 months old and she is teething. Her top two teeth are coming in first instead of her bottom two first. People keep telling me that because of that she is gonna have buck teeth. Is this true?
My daughter%26#039;s top two teeth are coming in first? Is that ok?
There is a percentage of individuals who get the bottom 2 teeth first, and we call that the norm, but it is not across the board. It is of no concern that the top teeth are coming in first, as long as the bottom teeth come in next. If they do not, get to the dentist because there could be a chance of %26quot;congenitally missing teeth%26quot; aka your baby may be born without them. The most common teeth to be born without are the maxillary lateral incisors, bottom 2nd premolars and wisdom teeth, but again, those are generalities.
Buck teeth are a product of thumb sucking and/or crowded teeth. It is too early for you to assume or even worry about buck teeth....that is a misconception!
Be sure to practice brushing and do not use toothpaste with fluoride until after the age of 2...and even then, only use a pea-sized drop to minimize the chance of %26quot;fluorosis%26quot; or permanent staining on the adult teeth. Good luck!
Reply:Yes, babies get their teeth early sometimes, and not really in any particular pattern. If you%26#039;re breast feeding CAREFUL!
Reply:she will not get buck-teeth from having the front teeth grow in first! Buck-teeth are from when you suck your thumb. it does not metter what order the teeth grow in, I got my top teeth in first!
Reply:Nah... With the technology nowaday, they can fix buck teeth easily. However, I don%26#039;t think growing top teeth first is the cause for having buck teeth.
Don%26#039;t worry too much.
