My roomate is insecure about her teeth. any recommendations?

My roomate is insecure about her teeth. She describes her front two teeth as %26quot;very long buck teeth.%26quot; (Those are her words not mine). She was thinking about getting veneers on her front two teeth or maybe if you guys can recommend something better and maybe a bit cheaper cuz i know veneers are about $1000 each. any other options for dealing with teeth like that? thanks guys.

Depending on how %26quot;Bucky%26quot; they are, often some esthetic re-contouring can be done. This is where we selectively grind down and reshape the teeth. Also, the adjacent teeth can also be bonded to make them appear longer to take away the bucky look of the front two. Recontouring can only be done within the outer enamel layer, too much tooth structure cannot be removed, otherwise the tooth will be sensitive and need either veneers or crowns. Re-contouring and bonding will be significantly cheaper than veneering them. She also might want to consider possibly some simple Orthodontic procedures. Unfortunately, I cannot give you an absolute answer without being able to review her case. Hope that this proves helpful!
Reply:a dentist could grind them down to make them shorter.
Reply:dentist is a start
Reply:Mabe her parents will pay for it. Tell her to ask them.
Reply:I have a friend that has the Veneers and she hates them! I would most likely recommend braces. Even though there expensive they will make the outcome look great! Or she could go to the dentists visit more then usual. It may boost her self confidence.
Reply:She could get braces, or just brush them really well. if she is to embarassed to get braces, she could acctually just get clear braces, i had them and they are very cool, all my friends think so also. she shouldnt be worrying to much, and buck teeth are sometimes great for haloween costumes. i seriously think she could go to the dentist and get those teeth removed and put in fake teeth, but that is a little to overboard. She should get braces, that would be the best idea.
Reply:you can recommend something such as invisalign if she doesn not have a major problem but if that will not correct it she can get lingual braces which go behind your teeth and arent painful....there is also the possibility that she can get a retainer to wear at night that will correct the problem. if the problem is her teeth are just too big she can get them filed down.
Reply:Take her to parts of Africa where many people have no teeth at all! Maybe she might appreciate what she has a bit more :)
Reply:Tell your roommate she can go to the dentist and get them sanded, which will make them shorter. This will make a lot of differance and I promise she will be happy with them. It is also not expessive at all.
